Overview

PlayListAI (“the App”) is a music playlist management application developed for personal use on Apple iPhone and iPad. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains clearly what data the App accesses, how it is used, and what is never collected or shared.

The short version: PlayListAI stores everything on your device. We do not operate servers, collect analytics, or share your data with anyone — with the limited exceptions of OpenAI (when you use the MelodAI AI assistant) and Spotify (only if you choose to connect a Spotify account).

1. Data We Access

Apple Music & Music Library

PlayListAI requests permission to access Apple Music and your personal music library through Apple’s MusicKit framework. This access is used solely to:

• Display and play songs from your library
• Search the Apple Music catalog
• Resolve AI-suggested songs to real Apple Music tracks
• Add songs to playlists within the App

Your music library data is never transmitted outside your device except through Apple’s own MusicKit APIs, governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.

Microphone & Speech Recognition

The MelodAI voice input feature requests microphone access and uses Apple’s Speech Recognition framework to transcribe your spoken requests into text. Voice audio is processed by Apple’s servers per Apple’s privacy practices. PlayListAI does not store, transmit, or retain any voice recordings.

Siri & App Intents

PlayListAI integrates with Siri to allow voice-activated playlist and playback control. Siri interactions are governed entirely by Apple’s Privacy Policy. PlayListAI does not receive or store the raw audio from Siri requests.

2. Data Stored on Your Device

All App data is stored locally on your device using Apple’s CoreData framework and the iOS Keychain. This includes:

• Playlists you create (name, emoji, song list)
• Songs added to playlists (title, artist, album, artwork URL, music-service track ID)
• Your OpenAI API key (stored in iOS UserDefaults/AppStorage, never transmitted to us)
• Your Spotify sign-in token, if you connect Spotify (stored securely in the iOS Keychain, never transmitted to us)
• App preferences such as auto-play and your selected music source

This data never leaves your device except as described in Section 3. You can delete all App data at any time by deleting PlayListAI from your device.

3. Third-Party Services

OpenAI (MelodAI Feature Only)

When you use the MelodAI AI assistant — by typing a request or tapping a mood chip — your text prompt is sent to OpenAI’s API servers to generate a playlist suggestion. This uses your own personal OpenAI API key, stored only on your device.

• What is sent to OpenAI: your text prompt (e.g., “make me a chill playlist”)
• What is NOT sent: your music library, playlists, service credentials, or any personal identifiers

OpenAI’s use of this data is governed by OpenAI’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Use. Review their policies at openai.com/privacy.

Spotify (Only If You Connect a Spotify Account)

PlayListAI lets you optionally choose Spotify as your music source. This feature is entirely opt-in — if you never connect Spotify, no data is ever exchanged with Spotify. When you do connect Spotify and use it, the App communicates with the Spotify Web API to:

• Sign you in through Spotify’s own secure login (OAuth). You enter your Spotify credentials directly with Spotify; PlayListAI never sees your Spotify password.
• Search Spotify’s catalog and match AI-suggested songs (the App sends song titles and artist names to find matches).
• Create and save playlists in your Spotify account when you tap “Save to Spotify” (the App sends the playlist name and its track list).

• What is sent to Spotify: search terms and song/artist names for matching, and playlist details you choose to save.
• What is NOT sent: your Apple Music library, your OpenAI API key, or personal identifiers beyond your own Spotify sign-in.

Your Spotify access token is stored securely in the iOS Keychain on your device and can be removed at any time by tapping Disconnect in the App. Spotify’s use of your data is governed by Spotify’s Privacy Policy at spotify.com/legal/privacy-policy.

Apple Services

The App uses the following Apple frameworks governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy (apple.com/privacy):

• MusicKit — Apple Music catalog access and playback
• Speech framework — Voice transcription
• SiriKit / App Intents — Voice command handling
• CoreData — Local on-device data storage

4. Data We Do NOT Collect

PlayListAI does not collect, transmit, or store any of the following:

• Your name, email address, or any personal identifiers
• Your Apple ID or Apple Music credentials
• Usage analytics or crash reports sent to us
• Advertising identifiers or tracking data
• Location data (GPS)
• Contacts or calendar data
• Photos or camera data
• Payment or billing information

We do not operate any servers or databases. There is no PlayListAI account system.

5. Children’s Privacy

PlayListAI is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us and we will take appropriate action.

6. Data Security

Because PlayListAI stores all data locally on your device, your data is protected by your device’s built-in security features including Face ID, Touch ID, and device encryption. Your OpenAI API key and Spotify token are protected by your device’s access controls (UserDefaults and the Keychain, respectively).

We recommend keeping your device updated with the latest iOS security patches.

7. Your Rights & Controls

You have full control over your data at all times:

• Revoke Apple Music access: Settings → Privacy & Security → Media & Apple Music → PlayListAI
• Revoke Microphone access: Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone → PlayListAI
• Revoke Speech Recognition: Settings → Privacy & Security → Speech Recognition → PlayListAI
• Remove your OpenAI API key: MelodAI tab → Settings → API Key → Change
• Disconnect Spotify: MelodAI tab → Settings → Music Source → Disconnect
• Delete all App data: Delete PlayListAI from your device

Since we do not collect or store data on any server, there is no additional data deletion request required.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the “Last Updated” date at the top of this document and included in App updates via the App Store. Continued use of PlayListAI after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
