Information we collect

We do not collect personal data. There is no account to create, no login, and no email or profile required to use the app. We do not use analytics, advertising, or any tracking technology.

Your songs and content

The songs, chord charts, setlists, backing tracks, and PDF files you create or import stay on your device, in the app's private storage. This content is never uploaded to us or to anyone else, and we have no ability to see it — with the single exception of the AI Chart Assistant described below, which only ever sees the lyrics and chords you deliberately submit to it.

AI Chart Assistant (optional)

GigStand includes an optional feature that turns lyrics and chords into a formatted chord chart for you. It is the only part of the app that uses the internet. When — and only when — you tap Generate, the text you have entered (the song's lyrics, the chords, and its title and key) is transmitted over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to our backend server, which passes it to our AI provider, Anthropic (the makers of Claude), to produce the chart. The finished chart is returned to your device and saved there.

• We use the text you submit solely to generate your chart. We do not sell it, use it for advertising, or use it to build user profiles.
• We do not retain your lyrics or chords on our server after your chart is generated.
• Anthropic processes the text to create the chart and does not use data submitted through our API to train its models. Their handling is governed by Anthropic's own privacy and commercial terms.
• The feature is entirely opt-in. If you never use the AI Chart Assistant, no song content ever leaves your device.
• Please avoid entering sensitive personal information into the assistant — it is meant for song lyrics and chords.

Files you import

When you import an audio file (MP3, M4A, or WAV) or a PDF chart, GigStand copies it into its own storage on your device so it works offline. These files are not transmitted anywhere.

Third parties

GigStand contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. The only third party that ever receives any content is our AI provider, Anthropic, and only the lyrics and chords you choose to submit through the AI Chart Assistant, solely to generate your chart. No other data is shared with anyone.

Data security

Your songs and content are stored in your device's private, app-only storage and protected by your device's own security. The only data that leaves your iPad is what you submit to the AI Chart Assistant, which travels over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection and is used only to build your chart. We do not keep a copy of that content on our servers after the chart is returned.

Your content & your rights (Terms of Use)

GigStand is a tool for organizing and performing musical content that you create or are otherwise licensed to use. You are solely responsible for the songs, lyrics, chord charts, audio backing tracks, PDFs, and any other material you enter, import, or generate in the app, and for ensuring you hold the necessary rights or licenses to use that material — including any copyrighted songs by other artists.

• GigStand grants no rights to third-party music, lyrics, or recordings, and is not responsible for how you use content you provide.
• Keep any third-party material for your own licensed, personal use; do not redistribute or sell it through the app.
• Public performance of copyrighted songs is generally covered by the performance licenses held by the venue where you perform.
• When you use the AI Chart Assistant, you confirm you have the right to submit the lyrics and chords you enter.

Children's privacy

GigStand does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update this page and revise the effective date above.
